GMP® P92 from Globus Metal Powders is a chromium-molybdenum ferritic-martensitic steel powder engineered for exceptional high-temperature strength, creep resistance, and thermal stability. Produced via argon inert gas atomisation, this powder features ultra-low oxygen levels, tightly controlled minor elements, and optimised spherical particle morphology, making it suitable for PM-HIP, additive manufacturing (AM), metal injection moulding (MIM), and thermal spray applications. 

P92™ is widely used in power generation, petrochemical, and industrial high-temperature equipment, where components operate under sustained stress at elevated temperatures. Its chemistry and microstructure allow for reliable long-term performance in boilers, turbines, and pressure vessels, with reduced risk of creep deformation or thermal fatigue. 

Differentiation

  • Versus nickel superalloys (718, 625, Alloy X, 939): P92 focuses on high-temperature ferritic performance for energy applications, whereas nickel-based superalloys are optimised for extreme creep, oxidation, and fatigue resistance in aerospace and industrial turbines. 
  • Versus EUROFER97: While both are ferritic-martensitic steels, P92 is optimised for fossil and conventional high-temperature power applications, whereas EUROFER97 is specifically developed for nuclear and low-activation environments. 
  • Versus stainless steels (316L, F53): P92 offers superior creep resistance and high-temperature stability, whereas 316L and F53 prioritise corrosion resistance in aqueous or chemical environments. 
  • Versus Invar 36: Invar is engineered for low thermal expansion, while P92 is selected for mechanical integrity under high-temperature service loads.
