Globus Metal Powders

Powder Metallurgy

Powder Metallurgy is a highly controlled manufacturing approach that converts metal powders into high-performance components through processes such as Pressing & Sintering (PS), Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIP) and Metal Injection Moulding (MIM).

By compacting and/or densifying powders in carefully controlled conditions, PM enables the production of complex geometries, uniform microstructures, and high-density parts that are often impossible to achieve with traditional casting or machining.

The use of ultra-clean, spherical powders with controlled chemistry and low oxygen content is critical in PM to ensure consistent green density, predictable sintering and shrinkage behaviour, and defect-free final components. These powders support high mechanical performance, excellent fatigue resistance, and corrosion durability, properties that are essential in aerospace, defence, marine, oil & gas and power generation applications.

PM also allows for tight dimensional control and repeatable component performance, reducing the need for extensive post-processing and enabling cost-effective high-volume manufacturing. Downstream processes such as sintering or HIP further enhance part density, microstructural uniformity, and mechanical properties, producing components that meet the strictest industry standards.

How we support Powder Metallurgy

By choosing GMP® powders for PM applications, manufacturers benefit from consistent chemistry, optimised particle morphology, and controlled oxygen levels, ensuring reliable integration into high-performance, critical engineering components. Whether producing turbine parts, pressure vessels, valve bodies, or complex marine hardware, PM offers precision, reliability, and repeatable performance, making it a cornerstone technology for demanding industrial sectors.
