Globus Metal Powders

GMP® F75™

GMP® F75™

Cobalt-Chromium Alloy Powder for Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Reliability

GMP® F75™ from Globus Metal Powders is a cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy powder engineered for exceptional corrosion resistance, high strength, and biocompatibility. Produced via argon inert gas atomisation, this powder features ultra-low oxygen content, tightly controlled minor elements, and optimised spherical particle morphology, making it suitable for PM-HIP, additive manufacturing (AM), metal injection moulding (MIM), and thermal spray applications.

F75™ is widely used in marine, medical, and high-performance industrial applications, where chemical stability, mechanical reliability, and long-term service life are critical. Its composition delivers excellent wear and corrosion resistance, particularly in chloride-rich and aggressive environments, ensuring component longevity under harsh conditions.

Differentiation

Across the Globus portfolio:

  • Versus nickel superalloys (718, 625, Alloy X, 939): F75 is primarily selected for corrosion resistance and wear, whereas nickel-based superalloys excel in high-temperature mechanical performance.
  • Versus stainless steels (316L, F53, 415): While stainless steels provide general corrosion resistance, F75 offers superior performance in aggressive chloride environments and enhanced biocompatibility for medical applications.
  • Versus precipitation-hardening steels (17-4PH, 15-5PH, 13-8Mo) and martensitic steels (300M, 415): These steels prioritise mechanical strength, whereas F75 balances strength with chemical and corrosion stability.
  • Versus ferritic-martensitic steels (P91, EUROFER97) and SA508: These are optimised for structural and high-temperature applications, while F75 targets corrosion-prone, high-durability environments.
  • Versus M300 and H13: Maraging and hot work tool steels are selected for mechanical performance under stress or thermal cycles, while F75 is optimised for chemical and wear resistance rather than extreme mechanical loading.

GMP® ultra-low oxygen powders with tightly controlled minor elements reduce oxide inclusions and internal voids, ensuring defect-free densification during PM-HIP, additive manufacturing, and MIM processes. The spherical particle morphology and optimised particle size distribution (PSD) guarantee consistent flow, uniform packing, and predictable layer deposition, critical for precision components.

Applications

  • Marine & Offshore: valve bodies, pumps, and components exposed to saltwater and harsh environments.
  • Medical & Biocompatible Components: implants, surgical instruments, and high-durability prosthetics.
  • Additive Manufacturing: complex geometries with high corrosion resistance.
  • PM-HIP & MIM: dense, near-net-shape components with controlled microstructure and superior surface integrity.
  • Wear-Resistant Components: shafts, bushings, and fittings requiring long-term corrosion stability.

Key Advantages

  • Exceptional corrosion resistance in aggressive chloride and chemical environments.
  • High strength and durability for long-term reliability.
  • Ultra-low oxygen and tightly controlled minor elements for defect-free consolidation.
  • Spherical particle morphology and optimised PSD for predictable flow, packing, and layer deposition.
  • Internal laboratory verification ensures chemistry, PSD, and density consistency.
  • Customisable powders tailored for PM-HIP, AM, MIM, and corrosion-critical applications.
