Globus Metal Powders

GMP® 02-833™

Nickel-Aluminium Bronze Powder for Corrosion and Wear-Resistant Marine Applications

GMP® 02-833™ from Globus Metal Powders is a premium nickel-aluminium bronze (NiAl Bronze) powder engineered for superior corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and wear performance in marine and industrial environments. Produced via vacuum induction melting with inert gas atomisation, this powder features ultra-low oxygen content, tightly controlled minor elements, and optimised spherical particle morphology, ensuring predictable densification and defect-free PM-HIP, additive manufacturing (AM), and thermal spray builds.

This alloy is particularly suited for valve bodies, propellers, pump components, and marine hardware, where resistance to seawater, cavitation, and abrasive wear is critical. Its nickel-aluminium composition provides enhanced toughness, corrosion stability, and anti-galling properties, enabling long service life even under high-stress and aggressive marine conditions.

Differentiation

Across the GMP® portfolio:

  • Versus nickel superalloys (718™, 625™, Alloy X™, 939™): NiAl Bronze is optimised for aqueous corrosion and wear resistance, whereas superalloys prioritise high-temperature creep, fatigue, and oxidation resistance.
  • Versus stainless steels (316L™, F53™, 415™): While stainless steels offer general corrosion resistance, 02-833™ delivers superior performance in saltwater and marine environments, with better anti-galling and mechanical toughness.
  • Versus precipitation-hardening steels (17-4PH™, 15-5PH™, 13-8Mo™), maraging steel (M300™), and tool steels (H13™): These materials focus on mechanical strength, wear, or thermal fatigue, while NiAl Bronze emphasises corrosion and wear resistance under continuous exposure to seawater and marine conditions.
  • Versus ferritic-martensitic steels (P91™, EUROFER97™) and SA508™: These are selected for structural and high-temperature applications, whereas NiAl Bronze targets marine and hydraulic components requiring chemical stability.
  • Versus F75™ cobalt-chromium: F75™ is selected for extreme corrosion and biocompatibility, whereas 02-833™ balances marine corrosion resistance with mechanical toughness and cost-efficiency.

GMP® ultra-low oxygen powders and tightly controlled minor elements minimise oxide inclusions, internal voids, and porosity, supporting high-performance PM-HIP consolidation and additive manufacturing. The spherical particle morphology and optimised PSD ensure predictable flow, uniform packing, and consistent layer deposition, critical for high-value components.

Applications

  • Marine & Offshore: propellers, pump housings, valve bodies, and components exposed to seawater.
  • Additive Manufacturing: complex geometries requiring defect-free corrosion-resistant builds.
  • PM-HIP: dense, near-net-shape parts with uniform microstructure and high toughness.
  • Industrial & Hydraulic Equipment: shafts, bushings, and impellers operating in corrosive or high-wear conditions.
  • Defence Applications: naval hardware and critical marine components with high reliability requirements.

Key Advantages

  • Exceptional corrosion resistance in seawater and aggressive marine environments.
  • High toughness and wear resistance for demanding operational conditions.
  • Ultra-low oxygen and tightly controlled minor elements for defect-free consolidation.
  • Spherical particle morphology and optimised PSD for predictable flow, packing, and layer deposition.
  • Internal laboratory verification ensures chemistry, PSD, and density consistency.
  • Customisable powders tailored for PM-HIP, AM, thermal spray, and marine-critical applications.
