GMP® 300M™

High-Strength, Low-Alloy Steel Powder for Aerospace and Defence Applications

GMP® 300M™ from Globus Metal Powders is a high-strength, low-alloy steel powder optimised for critical aerospace, defence, and high-performance structural components. Produced via argon inert gas atomisation, this powder features ultra-low oxygen content, tightly controlled minor elements, and optimised spherical particle morphology, enabling defect-free PM-HIP densification, additive manufacturing, and near-net-shape component production. 

300M™ is particularly suited for landing gear, airframe components, and high-stress mechanical systems, where mechanical integrity, fatigue resistance, and toughness are essential. Its chemistry allows for precise heat treatments and ageing cycles, providing exceptional yield strength, tensile strength, and fracture toughness, ensuring reliable performance in demanding applications. 

Differentiation

Across the Globus portfolio: 

  • Versus nickel superalloys (718, 625, Alloy X, 939): 300M offers high-strength performance at moderate temperatures without the high-temperature creep capabilities of nickel alloys, making it ideal where mechanical toughness rather than extreme temperature resistance is the priority. 
  • Versus precipitation-hardening steels (17-4PH, 15-5PH, 13-8Mo): While PH steels balance strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue performance, 300M delivers higher tensile and yield strength with superior fracture toughness for structural applications. 
  • Versus stainless steels (316L, F53, 415): 300M is mechanically optimised rather than corrosion-focused. For corrosion-protection, 300M components can be coated. 
  • Versus ferritic-martensitic steels (P91, EUROFER97): P91 and EUROFER97 are designed for high-temperature structural stability, whereas 300M excels in fatigue-critical, high-stress moderate-temperature applications. 
  • Versus SA508: Both are low-alloy steels for structural components, but 300M achieves higher ultimate tensile strength and fracture toughness, making it ideal for aerospace and defence load-critical parts. 

 

GMP® ultra-low oxygen powders with tightly controlled minor elements minimise oxide inclusions, internal voids, and microstructural defects, ensuring predictable densification and defect-free additive manufacturing builds.
